University Soccer Reunion September 23-25, 2005 | | Kim
Bayless
What
did you after Athens? After college I attended law school at the University
of Toledo and continued to play soccer on various club teams. After playing with
Eric and Sherman in a college All Star game in Cleveland, I was given one try
out with the Cleveland Stars professional team (1975). After my cup of coffee
I was advised to keep my day job. Upon finishing law school I moved to North Carolina,
where I have lived since 1977. Family At the comfortable age of 40 I married
Nan Brantley, a native of North Carolina. We have two sons Lucas and Adam. Both
boys have enjoyed good health and state-wide success in soccer and baseball. Career
I have practiced law in North Carolina with the same firm (Poyner & Spruill, LLP)
since 1978. I have a general commercial practice, concentrating on buying, selling
and operating businesses. In 1996 I also started a truck unloading business that
now operates in 21 states. Additional education Three years of law school
and a perpetual learning process on raising children. Residences/locations
since Athens, Ohio Rocky Mount, North Carolina Raleigh, North Carolina
Recreation/hobbies (soccer?) Soccer, swimming and golf. None of which I do
very well any more. In my post law school days I did a number of triathlons, and
then the knees said enough. I have coached youth soccer since 1978. Significant
events Experiencing a wonderful life in North Carolina with family and friends.

(Kim emailed Hugh the following:) I have so enjoyed hearing from Peter
and reading all the information you fellows have put together for the reunion.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. I am sure it will be wonderful and
that many old friendships will be rekindled. I have many great memories of my
time in Athens and keep several OU soccer pictures up in my office. I plan to
contact several of the team members through the internet or by phone. I also hope
to look up some my fellow North Carolinians. Attached is my meager bio. Health
& Happiness. Kim Class of 74. |
