Eric Winders

What did you do after Athens?
I was drafted by the Baltimore Comets of the NASL and went to Baltimore for a tryout. Dental school seemed like a more predictable future. I did go to the final of the 1974 World Cup in Munich which was amazing. I attended Ohio State College of Dentistry from 1975-78 during which time I continued to play soccer for the Greeks in Columbus. After graduation from OSU I spent two years in the Navy Dental Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In 1980 I moved to Medina, Ohio and started a private dental practice and have been there ever since.

Family
I married Kathryn Fetter in 1975 just before starting dental school. She and I met while seniors at OU after she moved in to take over Sherman Lyle's R.A. position when he graduated after fall quarter. Sherm was Best Man at our wedding. We have two girls, Emily and Anna. Emily is a senior at Washington University in St. Louis. Anna is a freshman at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.. No soccer players - both have had considerable success in swimming. Emily now plays water polo at Wash U. and Anna is on the swim team at Ithaca. Kathryn spent the first 31/2 years in Medina working with me starting the dental practice and then "retired" to be a full time mom once our first child was born. She stills does bookkeeping for the office from home.

Travel, swimming (mostly as a fan), golf, skiiing
Played soccer for a few years in Medina in an adult league and pretty much retired once the kids were born.

Having been blessed with a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters.
