Recreation/hobbies/sports (continuation with soccer?): Have to say "soccer's been very, very good to me." Coached 4 yrs at Ball State, 9th graders while at OSU (my favorite team), U10 in Cleveland and Normal. Earned a USSF 'B' license in 1975. Been on the USSF sports medicine committee since moving to Duke (my boss was and is the lead MD for US Soccer). Big job right now is working in education for FIFA's medical research program for the past couple years. Sorry, I've no pull on World Cup tickets for me or anyone else, besides, all 2006 tickets are already sold to ticket brokers. Continued to play after OU with Ft Wayne SC, then in LA and Columbus Olympic while at OSU, but a knee injury this past February convinced me I was living on borrowed time. Been a jogger since forever and continue with that…an unapologetic Duke basketball fan…my son and I are movie nuts and my daughter picked up my science genes and is a nursing student.

Health: A living lab for soccer injuries…concussions, sprained knees, chronic ankle instability, broken ribs, separated shoulder, detached retina, strained muscles, developing arthritis in both knees and neck…and those are the ones I can remember.

Significant events: positive and negative After marriage and the kids, the rest has been entertainment.

Anything else you'd like to add: I started out as a PE major and ended up as a medical writer/editor - go figure. If interested, you can find some soccer stuff at www.SouthernSoccerScene.com - a regional monthly in the southeast. You may or may not remember at OU I worked as a lab assistant in human anatomy (still in contact with that prof) and that may explain why I gravitated to working in orthopaedics and sports medicine. Worked with lots of stars in my field and got opportunities to participate in plenty of research most recently on knee and head injuries and I write/edit in sports medicine and soccer medicine.
